Elise-Gayonne Vernon: Champion of Agriculture and Belizean Excellence
Elise-Gayonne Vernon is a pioneering farmer, beekeeper, and community leader who made history as the first Belizean to place in the Top 40 at the Miss World pageant. Born in Belize City but raised in the agricultural hub of Biscayne Village, she has dedicated her platform to food security, youth empowerment, and gender equity in farming.
Education: Vernon graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Biology from Galen University. She previously attended St. John's College Junior College and St. Catherine's Academy.
Agriculture: As a self-employed farmer and certified beekeeper, she manages her own ranch in Biscayne. She specializes in livestock and apiary management and aspires to become a veterinarian for large farm animals.
Political Leadership: Deeply involved in her community, she serves as the Chairperson of Biscayne Village and was a member of the first cohort of Young Women in Leadership, participating in Belize’s historical all-woman parliamentary sitting.
Miss World Belize: Crowned in October 2022, Vernon represented Belize at the 71st Miss World festival in Mumbai, India.
Historical Milestone: She broke barriers by securing a spot in the Top 40, the highest-ever placement for Belize in the competition’s history.
Cultural Showcase: Her talent performance featured the steel pan and vocals, while her traditional Creole costume honored the resilience and artistry of her heritage.
Vernon’s humanitarian project, "Cultivating the Future," focuses on eradicating hunger through sustainable agriculture.
