Shayari Morataya is a dedicated law student, healthcare advocate, and national ambassador who currently holds the title of Miss World Belize. Representing the energy and diversity of Belize City, Shayari has built a legacy of service through her academic excellence and her deep-rooted commitment to public health.
Academic and Professional Background
Legal Aspirations: With a strong academic background in Criminal Justice and Law, Shayari is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Social Sciences at St. John’s College Junior College. Her ultimate goal is to become a family lawyer, providing a voice for the vulnerable within the legal system.
Multicultural Heritage: Having studied in both Belize and Guatemala, Shayari is bilingual and brings a unique regional perspective to her work as an international ambassador.
Early Leadership: Her journey in service began as a youth volunteer for Childhope Belize, where she developed a passion for mentoring the next generation of Belizean leaders.
Pageantry and Cultural Representation
National Success: A veteran of the stage, Shayari previously served as Miss East Indian Belize (2018) and Miss Belize Latina (2024) before being appointed to represent the nation at the 72nd Miss World festival.
Global Stage: During the Miss World competition in India, she took pride in showcasing the resilience of Belizean culture. Her national costume, a stunning gold-themed Victorian-style Creole ensemble, was a tribute to the historical strength and artistry of Belizean women.
"Beauty with a Purpose": Be Kidney Kind
Shayari’s humanitarian work is centered on the vital importance of preventative healthcare through her project, "Be Kidney Kind: Nurturing Kidney Health Together."
Healthcare Advocacy: As the Secretary for the Kidney Association of Belize, she works tirelessly to raise awareness about kidney disease and non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
Roots and Wings (Raíces y Alas): She founded this youth-led organization to empower young Belizeans through health education, leadership workshops, and community service.
Community Impact: Her initiatives include organizing nationwide health fairs that provide free screenings and educational resources to underserved communities, ensuring that wellness is accessible to all.
